Spa Massage

Swedish Relaxation Massage
Swedish Massage might be better known as the alpha enhancer and is a luxurious mix of gentle pressure and long kneading strokes, slow rocking, and soft tapping percussion movements, which soothe the mind and melt away muscle aches and pains. All strokes are flowing toward the heart to improve circulation, unwind and relieve tension, and ultimately create the sacred space of total harmony within.

Hot Stone Massage
Used as early as 1500 B.C., Native Americans and Europeans were the first societies to use Hot Stone Therapy. The all-time favorite, Hot Stone Therapy is intended for extreme relaxation with added comfort and warmth to melt those long overworked muscles. Heated stone massage involves the placement of warmed, smooth, basalt (volcanic) rocks upon the major chakras, spine and various muscles, and combined with long Swedish massage strokes to relax the body and calm the mind.

Deep Tissue Massage
A gentle beginning, with a Swedish Massage introduction to relax the outer muscles, Deep Tissue Massage then progresses in pressure to alleviate chronic muscular pain, support injury rehabilitation, and assist with the reduction of inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendinitis. Add Advanced Energy Therapy with Essential Oils for gentle yet faster healing.

Therapeutic Massage / Neuromuscular Therapies in St. Petersburg

Therapeutic Massage – Neuromuscular Therapy

May be used alone or in combination with any massage and will be included in the time chosen by the client and therapist
This comprehensive program of soft-tissue manipulation balances the body’s central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system. Based on neurological laws that explain how the central nervous system initiates and maintains pain, the goal is to help relieve the pain and dysfunction by understanding and alleviating the underlying cause. Neuromuscular Therapy can help individuals who experience distortion and biomechanical dysfunction, which is often a symptom of a deeper problem. It is also used to locate and release spasms and hypercontraction in the tissue, eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain, rebuild the strength of injured tissues, assist venous and lymphatic flow, and restore postural alignment, proper biomechanics, and flexibility to the tissues.

***Athletes/Dancers – Pre and Post-event massage combined with Myofascial and or Neuromuscular techniques can reduce recovery time, enabling an athlete to resume training much sooner than rest alone would allow. When an athlete sustains an injury, skillful massage therapy can often speed and improve the quality of healing.

Myofascial Release Therapy
Myo refers to muscles. Fascia refers to connective tissue throughout the body. Myofascial release refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia, integument (skin) and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and equilibrioception (balance). Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions, or by skin rolling and is often performed without lotion or oil. Myofascial release is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to eliminate fascial restrictions and facilitate the emergence of emotional patterns and belief systems that are no longer relevant or are impeding progress. First, an assessment is made by visually analyzing the human frame, followed by the palpation of the tissue texture of various fascial layers. Upon locating an area of fascial tension, gentle pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction. Myofascial release is an effective therapeutic approach in the relief of cervical pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain, and headache.

Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy
Based on the discoveries of Drs. Janet Travell and David Simons, in which they found the causal relationship between chronic pain and its source, Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy is used to relieve muscular pain and dysfunction through applied pressure to trigger points of referred pain and through stretching exercises. These points are defined as localized areas in which the muscle and connective tissue are highly sensitive to pain when compressed. Pressure on these points can send referred pain to other specific parts of the body.
